Eagles complete sweep of OCU

The 13th-ranked Oklahoma Christian University men's soccer team closed the 2006 regular season with a 3-1 victory over Sooner Athletic Conference rival Oklahoma City here Tuesday night.

On senior night, OC seniors Matt Clark and Brady Nikkel connected for the games first score just 11 minutes in. Clark sent a long pass ahead of the defense which Nikkel ran down and sent into the goal to give the Eagles an early 1-0 lead.

OCU answered 10 minutes later when Dusty Cagle scored on a header off a pass from Luke Garvey to tie the score at 1-1.

The game stayed tied into the 73rd minute when Nikkel crossed a long pass from the left side that was headed in by Preston Okwuonu to give OC a 2-1 advantage.

Just two minutes later, Chris Mooney added an insurance goal off a one-hop pass from Nikkel to secure the 3-1 victory.

The win ran OC's record to 11-3-2 overall and 7-3-2 in conference play. The Eagles will host an NAIA Region VI playoff game here on Tuesday, Nov. 7. The regional pairings will be announced Thursday.
