Oklahoma Christian University defeated eighth-ranked Southern Nazarene University 2-0 to open the 2004 soccer conference race here Oct. 1.
OC All-American forward Matt Clark scored in each half as the Eagles improved their season record to 6-1-2. Clark, a junior from Midwest City, now has 15 goals for the season and 52 for his career, to tie the Eagle record of 52 set in 2000 by Trey Truesdell.
Oklahoma Christian scored in the game's 24th minute when Clark took a feed from sophomore Brady Nikkel and drilled a shot past the goalkeeper. In the 87th minute Clark received a pass on the right side from freshman Jason Frei, struck a shot that hit the near pole, then caromed off to hit the far pole before bouncing into the net.
The Eagles will play St. Gregory's on Tuesday, Oct. 5 at 3 p.m. in Shawnee, Okla.
