Lady Eagles, Eagles blank SGU

The Oklahoma Christian University Lady Eagles recorded their fifth straight victory and remained unbeaten with a 5-0 whitewash of St. Gregory's University here Tuesday night (Sept. 12).

OC upped its Sooner Athletic Conference record to 2-0 to take an early lead in the league standings.

Junior Kristin Brown recorded the first hat trick of her collegiate career against the Lady Cavaliers, scoring twice in the first half and once in the second half. Assists on Brown's goals were credited to Taryn Caylor, Cassie Tyler and Meagan Pless.

Caylor added a goal in the ninth minute to build the Lady Eagles to a 3-0 lead at halftime. Twelve minutes into the second half, freshman Kendra Nummy scored her second goal of the season off an assist from Stephanie Duncan.

Brown sealed the score with her third goal of the game with four minutes to play.

In men's action, OC registered its first conference win with a 2-0 victory over SGU to improve to 4-1 overall.

Freshman Ryan Frampton scored the Eagles' first goal of the game on an assist from senior Brady Nikkel in the 35th minute of play. In the 88th minute, Edmond freshman Preston Okwuonu passed to junior Phillip Hoover in front of the frame. Hoover drilled the shot in from 25 yards out to clinch the game. The Eagles are 1-1 in SAC play.

The Eagles will host College of the Southwest in a Saturday afternoon contest beginning at 2 p.m. The OC men's and women's teams will play Oklahoma Baptist University Sept. 19. The games start at 6 p.m. for the women and approximately 8 p.m. for the men.
