Lady Eagles net tie, Eagles fall

SHAWNEE, Okla. (Nov. 3, 2009) – The Oklahoma Christian women's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie against Saint Gregory's University with the men falling to SGU 1-0 on Tuesday afternoon.

In the last regular season game of the year, the Lady Eagles fought hard to the end and the OC defense held Saint Gregory's to a mere 3 shots the entire game. Early in the game, SGU's Shelby Rackley utilized teammate Jennifer Alesch's assist to score a goal on SGU's only shot of the half.

Partway through the second half, Chloe Harrison took the ball to the net to give the Lady Eagles their first score of the game. Despite an abundance of shots, the Lady Eagles were unable to find the net a second time. Through two overtime periods both teams remained scoreless ending the game in a 1-1 tie.

The Lady Eagles finished their regular season play with a 9-6-3 overall record.

The men's game saw a deficit of scoring as well. The Eagles' defensive squad held SGU to only 5 shots the entire game, however, minutes into the game, SGU netted a goal to earn an early lead.

Through the remainder of the game, Oklahoma Christian saw several opportunities on goal yet were incapable of scoring and fell to Saint Gregory's 1-0.

The OC men finished regular season play with a 9-5-2 record and will enter into the first round of the conference tournament on Friday, Nov. 6. The Eagles will head to the road to play Rogers State (Okla.) for the first round play.
