Eagles suffer difficult loss

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Sept. 24, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian men's soccer team took a hard loss Friday night against Southwestern Christian University (Okla.) falling 1-0 after a penalty kick late in the game.

The two teams battled back and forth through a tight 0-0 first half with neither team able to score before halftime. The teams had nearly equal opportunities on goal with Southwestern Christian taking five shots and OC tallying four.

The Eagles continued to press against the motivated SCU men at the start of the second half but began to fall back spending most of the half on the defensive side of the field. OC registered just three shots in the second period while they faced a volley of ten shots from SCU.

With less than seven minutes left to play, the Eagles met misfortune with a foul in the box. The subsequent penalty kick opportunity allowed SCU to take the lead at 1-0 with just minutes left to play.

Despite OC's last chance retaliation efforts, the Eagles came up short with another loss to leave OC men's team at 0-7 for the season.

The Eagles will join the women's team on the road Tuesday as they face Lubbock Christian University (Texas). The women's game will kick off at 3 p.m. with the men to follow at 5 p.m.
