Garrett Taylor became the head coach of Oklahoma Christian's Ultimate club program in August 2020 and the Eagles have enjoyed nothing but success since then.
In his first head-coaching job, Taylor guided OC to the USA Ultimate Division III national title in December 2021, then did the same in May 2022, allowing the Eagles to claim the rare distinction of having won two national titles in the same sport from the same governing body during the same academic year.Â
Taylor grew up in Edmond and began playing Ultimate in high school. When he arrived at the University of Oklahoma, he joined the Sooners' club team and became a four-year starter on OU's O-line, helpinh the Sooners win a sectional title in 2013. He connected with the founding coach of OC's program, Gabe Cabrera, and served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Eagles in 2019-20 before the COVID-19 pandemic abruptly ended OC's debut season before it could compete in the postseason.
Since college, Taylor has captained a dozen summer and winter league teams for Oklahoma City Ultimate and created Edmond Ultimate LLC, in an effort to better serve Edmond's population with Ultimate leagues. He organizes and directs seasonal Ultimate leagues and tournaments at ScoreOKC in Edmond.
Taylor also works as a banking officer for First National Bank of Oklahoma. He is married to Shannon Taylor.
