A former All-Heartland Conference cross country runner, Blake Thompson joined the OC cross country staff as a graduate assistant coach in September 2016.
A steady presence on the OC cross country and track teams for from 2013 to 2016, Thompson, from Haysville, Kan., competed in events ranging from 800 meters to 10,000 meters during his career.
As a junior, he was OC’s No. 4 cross country runner as OC finished as the National Christian College Athletic Association runner-up and he qualified for the NCCAA Outdoor Championships in the 10,000 meters.
Thompson placed 17th individually at the Heartland Conference Championship in Laredo, Texas, as a senior in 2015, earning him honorable mention on the All-Heartland list as the Eagles cruised to the team title.
He was named to the Heartland academic Honor Roll’s President’s List during both semesters of the 2015-16 academic year. He graduated from OC in April 2016.
