OKLAHOMA CITY (Nov. 15, 2020) – An 11th-place showing in a national invitational meet earned Oklahoma Christian cross country runner
Kenya Bailey recognition Sunday as the Eagle of the Week.
Bailey, a junior from Ponca City, shined in the Division II XC National Invitational, held Saturday at Chaparral Ridge Cross Country Course in Lubbock, Texas. The event included 95 runners from four of the eight NCAA Division II leagues that opted to compete in the sport this fall after the NCAA cancelled its championship events.
Her time of 22:59.00 over the windy 6,000-meter course not only earned her All-Invitational honors, but was the third-best among Lone Star Conference runners in the race, behind only the winner and runner-up. Bailey beat four runners who finished ahead of her two weeks ago in the LSC Championship race in San Angelo, Texas.
The Eagle of the Week award recognizes the top performer in OC athletics for the previous week. The honor is presented each week at least one OC athletic team is in competition.
