DENTON, Texas (Feb. 11, 2014) – Carley Cooley of Denton, a star midfielder for her north Texas club team, has signed a letter of intent to play women’s soccer at Oklahoma Christian, OC coach Randall Robison said Tuesday.

The 5-foot-6 Cooley was the co-captain of the Texas Spirit ’96 North club team, helping her squad reach the Texas Cup quarterfinals in 2012.

Cooley attends Marcus High School in Flower Mound, Texas, but does not play prep soccer.

“Carley will be in the mix for our central midfield corps,” Robison said. “She is a stable, consistent leader from her defensive midfield role. She comes from a proven club system that has prepared her for the level we will require. Carley will surely be a big part of our team in the coming years. We are very excited for her to join us.”

Cooley is the third player to sign with OC during the current NCAA signing period, joining Mackenzie Marquardt of Norman and Sydni Wiles of Mustang.
