OKLAHOMA CITY (Dec. 26, 2011) – Standout prep goalkeepers from Pennsylvania and Texas have signed to play college soccer at Oklahoma Christian.
Anna Walker of Berwyn, Pa., and Lindsey Williams of Plano, Texas, will join the Lady Eagles next fall, OC women’s coach Randall Robison said.
Walker, a senior who played at Conestoga High School in Berwyn, signed her letter of intent on Nov. 18. Walker grew up in Tulsa before her family moved to Pennsylvania. Her parents, Todd Walker and Jana (Rogers) Walker, graduated from OC in 1986 and 1987, respectively.
With Walker in the goal, Conestoga finished third in the Pennsylvania Class 3A playoffs in 2010. This past season, Conestoga finished 18-6 and lost in the first round of the state playoffs in overtime to a team that went on to finish as the state runnerup. Walker allowed only 10 goals and posted an 0.44 goals-against average.
“We are very excited to have Anna as part of OC soccer,” OC coach Randall Robison said. “She is a tremendous goalkeeper that has been regarded as one Pennsylvania’s top goalkeepers for some time now. Anna was highly recruited by numerous schools. We are very thankful she chose OC over a year ago. Anna will be a great addition to our program.”
Williams played for the boys team at Fairhill High School in Dallas, serving as the team captain the past two years. As a senior, she earned TAPPS second-team all-state honors and she received all-district honors all four years.
She played her club soccer with the Dallas Texans.
“Our goalkeeper corps gets even stronger with Lindsey joining us,” Robison said. “I’ve watched her play for years; she is a tireless competitor and has proven herself a very good goalkeeper. Lindsey will be a very good addition to our program, both on and off the field.”
