OKLAHOMA CITY (Feb. 7, 2012) – Aisha Martin, a standout forward at Lorenzo High School in Texas, signed a letter of intent Wednesday to play college basketball at Oklahoma Christian University.
OC coach Stephanie Findley visited the Class A high school, located in Lorenzo – northeast of Lubbock – for Martin’s formal signing ceremony. The 5-foot-10 Martin is averaging 24.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.3 steals and 4.0 assists this season for Lorenzo. She’s shooting 56.6 percent from the field, 39.9 percent from 3-point range and 81.2 percent from the free-throw line for the Hornets.
As a junior, Martin was named as the most valuable player in District 7-IIA.
“Aisha is a versatile player who’ll be able to play many positions for us,” Findley said. “She’s been a dominant player on the small-school level and I believe she has the capability of being a good player at the college level as well.”
