Ruckman elevated to associate head coach for Oklahoma Christian softball
OKLAHOMA CITY (May 27, 2014) – Jessica Ruckman, who has worked on Oklahoma Christian’s softball coaching staff the past four seasons, has been elevated to associate head coach of the Lady Eagles, OC head coach Tom Heath said Tuesday.
Ruckman joined the OC staff before the 2011 season as a graduate assistant and became a full-time assistant coach before the 2012 campaign. She has played a key role in the program – both administratively and on the field – as it transitions from the NAIA into NCAA Division II.
This past season, OC tied the program record for wins during a 42-16 campaign and finished as the National Christian College Athletic Association runner-up, matching the highest national finish ever by any OC women’s team. The Lady Eagles finished third in the Division II Heartland Conference’s regular-season standings.
“Jessica has earned the title of associate head coach,” said Heath, who has been OC softball’s only head coach since the program began in 1995. “She does a lot of jobs that I do and she does them well. She has been a huge asset for our program and she is a big reason we enjoyed so much success this year.”
Ruckman, 26, grew up in Stillwater. As Jessica Hauf, she played for OC from 2007 to 2010. She graduated from OC in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in physical education, then earned a master’s degree in sports administration from East Central last December. She is married to Zach Ruckman.
