Rich improves stock with 14th-place finish in 1,500 at Wichita State meet

WICHITA, Kan. (April 11, 2014) – Maci Rich ran a season-best time in the 1,500 meters to highlight Oklahoma Christian’s outing on Friday night in the K.T. Woodman Classic, hosted by Wichita State at Cessna Stadium.

Rich, a freshman from Marlow, finished 14th in the 82-woman field in the 1,500 with a time of 4:55.35. She improved her national qualifying time in the event as the Lady Eagles prep for the upcoming National Christian College Athletic Association Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Another OC freshman, Layne Hammer, just missed qualifying for the NCCAA meet in the 1,500, finishing 25th in 5:04.01.

OC also had a pair of freshman finishers in the 5,000 meters. Katie Jones finished 24th among 47 runners with a time of 19:57.13, while Sarah Cobb was 35th in 20:51.37. The NCCAA qualifying time in the event is 19:10.
