Rain forces cancellation of golf tournament involving Eagles
OKLAHOMA CITY (April 2, 2013) – Persistent rain and lightning that interrupted play throughout the day forced the cancellation of the Broncho Invitational Presented by RCB Bank, which was hosted by Central Oklahoma at Gaillardia Country Club.
The two-day, 54-hole event, in which Oklahoma Christian’s men’s golf team was entered, was due to start with 36 holes Tuesday and finish with an 18-hole round Wednesday.
Officials switched the tournament to a 36-hole event early Tuesday and golfers started teeing off at 9 a.m., only to get a few holes before being forced off the course by lightning.
Hours of continued rain made the course unplayable and with the forecast for more bad weather throughout the night, the decision was made to cancel the event.
The Eagles will close their spring season next Monday at Tuesday in the Dallas Baptist Classic at Hackberry Creek Country Club in Irving, Texas.
