OC signees Moon, Shelton, Norris play in Oklahoma All-State games

TULSA, Okla. (Aug. 1, 2013) – Oklahoma Christian basketball signees John Moon, Deric Shelton and Zach Norris each played Thursday night in the annual Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State games at the Mabee Center.

Playing for the Small West team, Moon, from Crescent, and Shelton, from Plainview in Ardmore, both scored in double figures in a 100-82 win over the Small East squad. Shelton, a 6-foot-3 guard, scored 12 points, hitting multiple 3-pointers, while Moon, a 6-foot-11 center, scored 11 points.

In the large-schools game, Norris, a 6-foot-4 guard from Coweta, scored six points for the Large East team, which lost to the Large West 89-85. Norris’ father and high school coach, Scott Norris, was an assistant coach for the East team.

Zach Norris was one of four finalists for the Jim Thorpe Player of the Year award for boys basketball, an honor which went to Stephen Clark of Oklahoma City Douglass.
