OKLAHOMA CITY (July 22, 2013) – Oklahoma Christian golfers Taylor Williams and Ryan Evans both lost in the first round of match play on Monday in the Oklahoma Golf Association’s State Amateur Championship at Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club.

Evans, a freshman from Edmond, fell 2 and 1 to Phillip Bryan of Mustang, while Jeffrey Topp of Midwest City beat Williams, a junior from Chickasha, 2-up.

Evans and Williams emerged from a field of 146 players to qualify for one of the 64 spots in the tournament’s match-play bracket. Earlier this month, in the stroke-play qualifying round at Lincoln Park Golf Club’s West Course in Oklahoma City, Williams fired a 4-under-par 67 while Evans shot a 2-under 69.

Williams was seeded 19th while Evans was seeded 42nd in the match-play bracket.
