LAREDO, Texas (April 20, 2013) – Senior Lindsy Moore tossed a two-hit shutout and Martha Thomas, Danielle Collins and Sarah Peoples each homered to lead Oklahoma Christian to an 8-0 romp over Texas A&M International on Saturday afternoon at Dustdevil Field.

OC (20-21) ended its regular-season schedule by winning two out of three games in its Heartland Conference series against TAMIU (18-34). OC won three of its six conference series this season and tied another, finishing 9-8 against league foes, although those games didn’t count in the Heartland standings. All but three of those conference games were on the road.

Moore (7-9) didn’t allow the Dustdevils a hit until the fourth inning and surrendered one walk against two strikeouts. She twice retired eight batters in a row and didn’t allow a TAMIU baserunner past first base.

Thomas gave Moore all the run support she needed with a three-run homer to center field in the first inning off TAMIU starter Sarah Johnson (2-10).

Collins led off the second inning with a solo shot over the left-field fence to put the Lady Eagles ahead 4-0. Kendra Pierce keyed a two-run fifth inning for OC with a run-scoring double to left field.

OC added a pair of runs in the sixth as Kala Ratliff walked and scored on Peoples’ home run to center field. That made it 8-0 and Moore blanked the Dustdevils in the bottom of the inning to end the game due to the run rule.

Peoples finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while Pierce also had two hits for OC. Kristen LaBuhn had both of TAMIU’s hits, singles in the fourth and sixth innings.

The Lady Eagles will play in the National Christian College Athletic Association Central Region tournament next Friday and Saturday at Central Baptist in Conway, Ark. OC’s opponents and game times in that tournament have yet to be determined.
