OKLAHOMA CITY (Dec. 10, 2013) – A strong performance in her first collegiate meet earned Oklahoma Christian freshman thrower Miranda Ostlund a national award on Tuesday.

The National Christian College Athletic Association named Ostlund, from Mount Hope, Kan., as its women’s indoor track and field student-athlete of the week after she finished second in two events at the Oklahoma Baptist Indoor-Outdoor Invitational last Wednesday.

Ostlund took second place in the shot put with a throw of 33 feet, 9¼ inches (10.29 meters) and also was second in the weight throw with a mark of 39 feet, 3 inches (11.96 meters). She qualified for the NCCAA Indoor Championships in the weight throw.

Ostlund and men’s thrower Larry Brown gave OC a sweep of the NCCAA weekly awards for track and field. Brown also was honored after his outing at the OBU meet.
