Lady Eagles to be top seed in NCCAA Central Region tournament

OKLAHOMA CITY (March 8, 2014) – Oklahoma Christian will be the top seed in the National Christian College Athletic Association Central Region women’s basketball tournament, which will begin Friday in the Eagles’ Nest.

The pairings for the four-team tournament were announced Saturday. OC (15-11) will play fourth-seeded Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) (14-17) at 5:30 p.m. Friday, while second-seeded Colorado Christian (15-12) will play third-seeded Mid-America Christian (17-13) at 1:30 p.m.

The semifinal winners will play next Saturday at 2 p.m. for the regional title, with the winner advancing to the NCCAA Championship at Grace University in Winona Lake, Ind., from March 19-22.

The Lady Eagles won last year’s regional title, beating Southern Nazarene in the championship game in Bartlesville. SNU did not qualify for this year’s regional tournament.

OC is 5-1 all-time against Southwestern Assemblies of God and won the last meeting between the teams in November 2011. OC is 11-4 all-time against Mid-America Christian, with the Lady Eagles losing their last two matchups against MACU, with the most recent game being played in December 2012. The Lady Eagles have never played Colorado Christian.
