GREENVILLE, S.C. (April 3, 2014) – Oklahoma Christian has established itself among the elite in the National Christian College Athletic Association ranks, as the Lady Eagles are No. 9 in the current NCCAA rankings.

The NCCAA softball rankings are based on the Burbridge Power Rating, a formula used by the national organization to seed regional and national tournaments. OC (24-12) was seventh in the first two NCCAA rankings of the season before falling to ninth this week, even though the Lady Eagles’ Burbridge rating improved to 5.235 from 5.278 a week earlier and 5.208 two weeks ago.

The Lady Eagles’ doubleheader split with defending NCAA Division II champion Central Oklahoma on Tuesday wasn’t included in the calculations for this week’s rankings.

OC was the highest-rated team from the NCCAA Central Region, just ahead of No. 10 Central Baptist (Ark.), the team that beat the Lady Eagles in last year’s regional title game.

The top 10 consisted of Simpson (Calif.), Campbellsville (Ky.), Shorter (Ga.), Cedarville (Ohio), Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.), Spring Arbor (Mich.), Indiana Wesleyan, Southeastern (Fla.), OC and Central Baptist.

OC will host St. Edward’s (Texas) on Friday and Saturday in a key Heartland Conference series.
