Keirns, Brown move up NCCAA charts at OBU Indoor Invitational

NORMAN, Okla. (Feb. 9, 2013) – Bryant Keirns improved his postseason stock in the 3,000 meters and Larry Brown did the same in the weight throw as Oklahoma Christian wrapped up the regular indoor track and field season on Saturday at the Oklahoma Baptist Indoor Invitational.

Keirns, a freshman, finished second among 28 runners in the 3,000 meters at the University of Oklahoma’s indoor facility with a season-best time of 8:56.43. He is one of five OC runners who have qualified for the 3,000 at next week’s National Christian College Athletic Association Championships in Marion, Ind.

Brown, a sophomore, took seventh among 16 competitors in the weight throw, posting a season-best mark of 51 feet, 7¼ inches (15.73 meters). He also has qualified for the NCCAA Championships in the event.

Also posting an NCCAA-qualifying time for OC was Winston Ogletree, who finished 13th among 40 runners in the 200 meters with a time of 23.52 seconds. Long jumper Tracy Marshall, who already had qualified for the NCCAA meet, was fourth among 11 competitors in that event with a mark of 22 feet, 5¾ inches (6.85 meters).

In the 600 meters, freshman Ryan Lutterloh was sixth among 26 runners in the 600 meters, finishing in 1:24.70. Nick Stooks (seventh in 2:01.29) and David Koistinen (12th in 2:02.80) finished in the upper half of the 26-man field in the 880-yard run.

Evan Fike was seventh among 14 runners in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:32.64.
