Hallam, Hernandez lead Lady Eagles at UCO Indoor Invitational
NORMAN, Okla. (Jan. 26, 2013) – Cassandra Hallam finished third in the 1,000 meters and Noemi Hernandez posted a top-10 result in the mile to lead Oklahoma Christian’s women’s track team on Saturday at the University of Central Oklahoma Indoor Invitational.
In her first 1,000-meter race of the indoor season, Hallam finished in 3:06.11, trailing only Kati Rogers of Oklahoma Baptist and Jessica Davis of Texas Wesleyan in the 14-woman field.
Hernandez was 10th among 24 women in the mile with a time of 5:47.35. She added an 11th-place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:40.73. Teammate Sarah DiBiasi finished 12th in the 20-woman field in the 800, recording a time of 2:41.58.
DiBiasi also finished seventh among 13 competitors in the high jump with a mark of 4 feet, 10¼ inches (1.48 meters). OC’s other top field performer was sophomore Katie Ostlund, who recorded a mark of 39 feet, 1 inch (11.91 meters) in the weight throw, good for eighth in the 13-woman field.
The OC relay team of Rebecca Bloodworth, Maegan Cowan, Somer Helms and Andrea Dennis took third among five teams in the 4x220-yard relay (1:48.93) and fourth among 11 teams in the 4x440-yard relay (4:12.64).
The meet was held at the University of Oklahoma’s indoor facility, although it was hosted by UCO.
