Games against SNU, Harding highlight Eagles’ 2014 soccer schedule
OKLAHOMA CITY (June 26, 2014) – Oklahoma Christian’s first-ever soccer game against sister school Harding (Ark.) and a renewal of the Eagles’ long rivalry with Southern Nazarene highlight OC 2014 schedule, announced Thursday by coach David Scott.
All of OC’s 14 games will come against NCAA Division II opponents as the university continues its transition into Division II. The Eagles are looking to bounce back after going 4-11-1 last season.
The schedule will include eight home matches, including four straight to open the season. That homestand will begin with a matchup with Southern Nazarene on Sept. 6. SNU has been OC’s most frequent opponent through the years, with the Eagles holding an 18-33-1 overall mark in the series. OC won last year’s matchup 5-2 in Bethany.
OC then will host three teams it has never before played. The Eagles will face Ouachita Baptist (Ark.) on Sept. 12, Colorado School of Mines on Sept. 14 and Harding on Sept. 20.
The Eagles’ first road trip will come on Sept. 25 and Sept. 27, when they will visit West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico, respectively, making the return trips for matchups played at OC last season against those Lone Star Conference foes.
OC will open Heartland Conference play at home against traditional power St. Edward’s (Texas) on Oct. 6, then will host league rival Dallas Baptist (Texas) on Oct. 13.
The Eagles then will face a four-game road swing, starting with a game Oct. 18 at St. Mary’s (Texas) and another Oct. 20 at Texas A&M International. The next week, OC will visit Newman (Kan.) on Oct. 25 and Rogers State on Oct. 27.
Home games against Heartland rivals Lubbock Christian (Texas) on Nov. 1 and Texas-Permian Basin on Nov. 3 will wrap up the regular season for OC. If the Eagles qualify, they could play postseason games in the National Christian College Athletic Association Central Region tournament later in November.
