Former OC golfer Stark advances in European Tour Qualifying School

LA PINEDA, Spain (Nov. 6, 2013) – Former Oklahoma Christian golf standout Oscar Stark has advanced to the final stage of the European Tour’s Qualifying School.

Stark, who led OC to the NAIA title in 2011 by earning national medalist honors, finished tied for eighth in the second stage of Qualifying School that ended Tuesday at Lumine Golf and Beach Club, a course designed by Hall of Fame golfer Greg Norman.

Stark, from Gothenburg, Sweden, shot rounds of 71, 70, 69 and 67 on the par-71 course to finish at 7-under-par. The top 18 players in the field of 78 advanced to the final stage of Qualifying School, to be played from Sunday through next Friday at PGA Catalunya Resort in Girona, Spain.

Stark won the Golf Coaches Association of America’s Jack Nicklaus Award in 2011 as the NAIA player of the year. He was a four-time NAIA All-America selection, making the first-team list three times, and also won the Arnold Palmer Award in 2011.
