Davenport receives another academic honor, making Scholar All-Region team
KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Dec. 18, 2013) – Oklahoma Christian goalkeeper Connor Davenport received another academic award on Wednesday, when he was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s College Division Men’s Scholar All-South Region second-team honor list.
Davenport, a senior from McKinney, Texas, was honored among a pool of players from NCAA Divisions II and III and NAIA universities located in a region spanning from Oklahoma and Texas on the west to North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida on the east.
He was one of only two Heartland Conference players honored on the Scholar All-Region team, joining Lubbock Christian (Texas) goalkeeper Erik Mozzo on the second team.
Davenport has a 3.47 grade-point average in electrical engineering. He played in seven games for the Eagles this season, finishing with a 2-2 record and a 2.75 goals-against average. He made 26 saves in about 459 minutes of playing time.
He earlier was named as a Scholar-Athlete by the National Christian College Athletic Association for the second straight season.
