WINNIPEG, Manitoba (Nov. 16, 2012) – One of Canada’s top junior golfers has signed a letter of intent to play collegiately at Oklahoma Christian.

Dana Todd, a senior at Westwood Collegiate High School in Winnipeg, Manitoba, submitted her signed letter of intent on Thursday, the second day of the NCAA signing period, OC coach Greg Lynn said. OC is in the first year of the NCAA Division II membership process.

Todd finished fifth in the Canadian Junior Golf Association’s Mizuno National Championship in August and was the runner-up in the Manitoba Junior Girls Championship in July.

“Dana is an accomplished golfer and hockey player,” Lynn said. “She hits the ball very long and she will be a contributor to the OC golf team. She is an outstanding individual, giving of her time to help with junior hockey. I am excited about the future for women's golf at OC with players like Dana joining our program.”

Todd is ranked 32nd in Canada by the Royal Canadian Golf Association and 46th by the Canadian Junior Golf Association. She won two events this year on the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour, which is run by the PGA of Canada.

She finished in second place in qualifying for the 2011 Western Canada Summer Games and was the winner of the Canadian National Future Links National Skills Competition in 2010.

Todd also competes in junior hockey, volleyball and track and field. She is a four-time member of championship hockey teams in Winnipeg and is the current captain of her high school team in that sport.

At OC, she’ll join a program that has enjoyed considerable success during its two-year existence. OC finished sixth in the 2012 NAIA Championship in Greeneville, Tenn., in May and was the runner-up at the NCCAA Invitational last month in Panama City Beach, Fla.

Todd is the second player to sign with OC during the current signing period, joining Allison Sell of Edmond.
