OKLAHOMA CITY (Nov. 6, 2012) – The NCCAA named Oklahoma Christian’s Vilhelm Bogstrand as its men’s golf student-athlete of the week on Tuesday, the second time in as many weeks he received that honor.

Bogstrand, a senior from Oslo, joined teammate Sam Johnston as a winner of the NCCAA weekly golf award this fall. An OC golfer took the honor after three of the Eagles’ five tournaments this fall.

Bogstrand finished fifth individually in a field full of NCAA Division I golfers at the Crown Classic in Lufkin, Texas, which ended last Tuesday. He was the top non-NCAA Division I finisher on the par-72, 6,692-yard Crown Colony Country Club course, shooting rounds of 75-72-76 to finish at 223.

He led OC – the only NCAA Division II squad in the eight-team field – to a third-place finish behind Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston State. The Eagles beat four NCAA Division I squads.

That performance came a week after Bogstrand earned medalist honors while leading the Eagles to the title in the NCCAA Championship in Panama City Beach, Fla.
