Arrese Cortadellas closes sophomore season with 6th NCCAA award
OKLAHOMA CITY (April 9, 2013) – Oklahoma Christian’s Anna Arrese Cortadellas capped a remarkable sophomore season on Tuesday by being named as the National Christian College Athletic Association’s student-athlete of the week for the sixth time this academic year.
The sophomore from Barcelona was honored after she closed the spring season last week with a second-place finish in Dallas Baptist's Southwest Classic at Tierra Verde Golf Club in Arlington, Texas.
Arrese Cortadellas shot two even-par 72 rounds on the 5,997-yard course to finish tied for the tournament lead before falling in a playoff. It was her fourth straight top-three individual finish this spring and she extended her remarkable streak of never finishing outside the top 10 during her college career – 16 tournaments so far.
She led the Lady Eagles to a fourth-place team finish in the nine-team event that featured mostly NCAA Division II squads.
Arrese Cortadellas won the NCCAA honor three times during the fall season and three times during the spring season. Her teammate, Morgan Dockery, also won the award once, meaning an OC player received the NCCAA honor after seven of the 11 tournaments in which the Lady Eagles were represented this academic year.
