Another Edmond North star joins Lady Eagles as Nordyke signs
EDMOND, Okla. (Nov. 15, 2013) – The pipeline from Edmond North’s successful high school program to Oklahoma Christian’s softball team became even stronger Friday, when OC received a signed letter of intent from Madison Nordyke.
Nordyke, a standout pitcher and infielder who helped the Huskies win the 2012 Class 6A title, will join Sheridan Bond (who signed Wednesday) and current OC freshman Abby Taliaferro on the Lady Eagles’ roster.
OC coach Tom Heath said Nordyke – the daughter of North coach Rick Nordyke – will have a chance to play immediately.
“Madison is a talented athlete who knows the game of softball,” Heath said. “She has grown up on the softball field and is a versatile player. We are very pleased that Madison has signed with Oklahoma Christian University.”
As a senior, Nordyke earned All-State honors and was named as the co-Most Valuable Player in District 6A-1 while leading North to the Class 6A state tournament. She went 19-5 with a 2.12 ERA and 128 strikeouts this fall and set school records for career wins (70) and doubles (36).
She hit .427 with 32 RBIs and 32 runs scored as a junior while going 15-1 with a 2.50 ERA in the pitching circle, earning Big All-City first-team honors from The Oklahoman. During her sophomore season, she hit .355 with 31 RBIs and went 18-2 with a 1.41 ERA and 115 strikeouts.
