Oklahoma Christian cherishes the opportunity to lead by example in the Oklahoma City and Edmond communities. The attribute of service in the NCAA Division II “Life in the Balance” initiative already is a part of the OC fiber as an institution and an athletic department.
We believe that our best chance to influence and change people’s lives is through volunteering our time to make someone else’s life better. Our student-athletes, coaches and staff members participate in more than 1,000 hours of community service each year.
OC student-athletes help build houses for the needy, volunteer at a local elementary school’s Family Fun Night, serve in breakfast programs with elementary students without fathers in the home, and work with local schools in their reading programs. Some of the organizations we have been involved with include Habitat for Humanity, The First Tee Initiative, Make a Difference Day, and our local elementary school’s fall carnival, in addition to the countless projects our students do on a more intimate basis.
Oklahoma Christian also has daily community interaction because of its fitness center and pool, which are open to the public for membership. OC also hosts summer sports camps, fall 5k races, junior high track meets, Boy Scout competitions, and local fire department underwater certifications.
